Pleno · Terms of Use
What you agree toby using it.
Effective 7 September 2026 · Last updated 25 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Salt and Co. Design Partners LLC(“we”, “us”), the publisher of Pleno. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you bought through the Mac App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement applies as well, and controls on anything to do with that licence. If you bought directly, Paddle’s buyer terms cover the purchase itself.
1. What Pleno is
An extension for Safari and for Chrome. The Safari one ships inside a small Mac app, because that is how extensions for Safari work; the Chrome one installs from the Chrome Web Store. Either captures pages your browser is already showing you, then gives you an editor to crop, annotate, redact and export them.
It has no accounts, and no server of ours holds anything you capture. A licence key checks in when you paste it, so the licence can count how many browsers it is in, and the editor then confirms it about once a day. Those check-ins carry the key, a random id for the browser and the browser’s name — nothing you capture. What that means for your data is set out in the privacy policy.
2. Your licence
You pay once and the copy is yours to keep, with updates included. There is no subscription and no renewal to miss. Each tier covers a number of activations; you can move one between browsers from your licence page whenever you like.
- Activations, not people. Personal covers 3 activations, Team 9 and Agency 30 — an activation being one browser on one machine. They are counted when a key is pasted, and you can free one from your licence page.
- A Mac App Store purchase is licensed to your Apple Account, on the terms of Apple’s EULA above. It unlocks Safari with no key to enter; if you also want Pleno in Chrome, Pleno’s Options will turn that purchase into a licence key, on the terms above.
- A direct purchase comes with a licence key. A Personal key is for you; a Team or Agency key is meant to be shared with the people you work with, up to its activations. Please do not publish or resell any of them.
The licence is non-exclusive and non-transferable. Nothing beyond the right to use the app is granted.
3. Buying, and refunds
Direct purchases are sold by our reseller, Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for every order. Paddle takes the payment, issues the receipt and invoice, and handles refunds and billing questions. Prices are shown before you buy, and any sales tax or VAT is worked out for where you live and added at checkout. A price may change for future purchases, never for one already made.
You can have a full refund on a direct purchase within 14 days, for any reason. A refund, or a payment disputed with your bank, ends the licence. The details are in the refund policy.
Mac App Store purchases are Apple’s to process, and refunds for them go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, under Apple’s policies; we cannot issue them ourselves.
If you have a statutory right of cancellation or withdrawal where you live, nothing here removes it.
4. When a licence ends
A licence key stops working if the purchase behind it is refunded or charged back, or if the key has been published, resold or shared well beyond its tier. In that last case we will write to the address that bought it first, wherever we can. When a key stops working, Pleno falls back to its free version; nothing on your machine is deleted.
5. What you capture is yours — and your responsibility
We claim nothing over your captures and hold no copy of them, which also means we cannot recover one for you. Keeping what matters is on your side of the line.
You are responsible for what you point the app at: that you are entitled to capture and keep it, and that sharing it does not breach somebody else’s terms, copyright, privacy or confidence. Pleno captures pages you can already see; being able to capture something is not the same as being free to publish it.
6. Redaction is a tool, not a guarantee
The black bars and the mosaic are baked into the file you export — there is no layer to switch off and nothing hiding underneath. That is a claim about the file, and we stand behind it.
It is not a claim that everything sensitive on the page has been covered. You decide what to redact, and we do not warrant that a redaction is complete, that every occurrence has been caught, or that nothing revealing remains elsewhere in the capture. Check the exported file before you send it.
7. What it cannot do
Some web apps scroll inside a panel rather than the window, and a true full-page capture is not possible there. Pleno tells you when it sees one and captures what is on screen instead. Pages can also change, expire or refuse to load parts of themselves while they are being captured.
The app is provided as it is, and no particular capture is promised to succeed or to look a particular way.
8. Acceptable use
Please do not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app except so far as the law expressly allows; redistribute or resell it; circumvent or share a licence key beyond what §2 allows; or use Plenoto break the law or somebody else’s terms.
9. Ownership
Pleno, its name, its design and its code are ours or our licensors’, and are protected by copyright. Your captures remain entirely yours.
10. Availability and changes
The app may change: features can be added, altered or removed, and we may stop publishing or supporting it. The free version needs nothing from us and keeps working as installed.
The paid editor confirms its licence with us about once a day, and carries on for 14 days without an answer, so being offline or travelling does not interrupt it. If we ever stop running that check, we will first release an update that no longer needs it, so that a licence you paid for keeps working.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, Plenois provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any given page will capture correctly.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, opportunity or goodwill — including, for the avoidance of doubt, anything following from a capture that failed, a capture that was disclosed, or a redaction you believed was complete.
Our total liability for all claims relating to Pleno is limited to the greater of what you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. A change never takes away something you have already paid for.
14. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to support Pleno. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries and may enforce these terms against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement is ours to answer, not Apple’s.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the federal laws of the United States that apply there, without regard to conflict of laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Any dispute about these terms or Pleno will be heard in the state or federal courts serving Bristol, Virginia, and you and we both agree to their jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim in the courts there. A purchase through the Mac App Store is also governed by Apple’s EULA, on its own terms.
